Let it Slide / Miles
About
Let it Slide started as an instrumental in 2022. I had a chorus for it already and had to fill in the verses but it was left to gestate for a while. After we started writing for Miles, the chorus for Let it Slide was fitting the same theme. So I decided the verses to be the "cause" to Miles' "consequence", and decided that these two should be packaged into one release. After Miles was written I wrote Let it Slide's outro to bridge the two tracks.
The writing process for Miles was Jasmijn coming to me with a short-form story or description even about driving and thinking stuff through. I like to do the same and that's why I wanted to make a song about it. I had an instrumental I was working on at the time that felt fitting. We started to write collaborately, instrumental and lyrics at the same time. And that's how this song was finished.
Cover Art
The album art features themes and objects related to the songs. Have fun finding them! I commissioned this cover art from Synaxis. They're pretty cool! I recommend to go check out their work and follow them!
Instrumentation
I'm playing my Japanese Fender P-Bass on these, and my Mexican strat. Keys were VST's and the drums are samples.
